Rooney record contract has Man Utd teammates demanding better deals

Manchester United have left themselves wide open to increasing demands from their star players after awarding rebel striker Rooney with a five-year deal worth a staggering £250,000 a week.

Ferdinand, for instance, is halfway through a five-year deal, but will want to re-negotiate his terms as the pay scale at United has now been blown out of the water. The only thing that could stop him is his injury problems.

A key United player’s agent said last night: “The club have now left themselves wide open to demands from other top players after breaking the bank to secure Wayne Rooney’s signature.

“They seem to think they can drag out negotiations because no player will ever want to leave United.

“Well, they got a massive wake-up call from Rooney who virtually held the club to ransom. The player himself might not go knocking on their door, but the agents representing them certainly will.”
