Former Argentine footballer Gabriel Batistuta, 42, can not stand on his knees for more than half an hour, Italian journalist Luca Calamia, friend of the player, was quoted saying by "Corriere della Sera".
"Now, unfortunately, (he) has trouble walking and Batistuta is seeking solutions. He can not stand for more than half an hour because of his knee problems," said the journalist, adding that "the medications have destroyed the knee tendons. "
The Italian insists that the former player can barely walk and recalls that the two became friends when the Argentine played as a striker in the Italian team Fiorentina and he worked as a journalist for the sports newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport."
Batistut had underwent various medical treatments with injections to relieve pain and reduce recovery time of some of his injuries.
"The most serious injury was that of February 7, 1999, when the striker was celebrating a goal in Fiorentina-Milan match," recalls the Italian newspaper.
