The Italian striker has struggled to cope with the pressure during his six-month loan spell with Sampdoria this season, according to his agent Giovani Bia.
"I don't know what will happen with Macheda next season, I'll have to talk to Manchester United," said Bia.
"Staying at Sampdoria could turn out to be a useful experience for him, even if they were playing in Serie B next term. However, it's too early to say at the minute."
