Alex out for 3 weeks

Chelsea defender Alex has been sidelined for three weeks with a thigh injury, ruling him out of Brazil's friendlies against Iran and Ukraine.

"The central defender underwent medical assessment on a thigh muscle injury sustained in the closing moments of Sunday's win over Arsenal" the club said on its website (http://www.chelseafc.com/).

"It is estimated he will be out for three weeks."

It is also likely that the defender will miss Chelsea's Champions League match at Spartak Moscow and Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Wolverhampton.
